Blend mode

How a layer's pixels combine with what is already drawn beneath it: multiply darkens, screen lightens, difference inverts where they overlap.

In Premation

Properties ▸ Blending and switches on any layer, or the Mode column in the timeline. All 38 of After Effects' modes are there, Dissolve and Dancing Dissolve included.
